ABOVE: This exquisite old 16x20-inch portrait of Thomas Morgan was recently found in a children’s toy closet. Mounted on canvas with a small wooden border frame, it likely once sat inside a more ornate outer frame. The portrait was torn and badly damaged. It was flown to New York City—arriving just in time for the September 11 World Trade Center attack, which it fortunately survived—where it was scanned and digitally restored. What you see here is the restored version of what may be the most important image in our Morgan family heritage: a large portrait of the man who brought the Morgan family to America.
